So Mandip Gil has not been given a lot to work with. I am especially happy to see that Yaz has a bigger part in the storyline. We will finally get some answers to questions and the season winds towards its conclusion.

More of the backstory for Vinder and Bel will be revealed.Īlthough Jodie Whittaker is in the story, there is a lot going on with her companions and other characters. The Weeping Angels, Karavastra, and The Grand Serpent are back Kevin McNally appears in both this episode and Chapter Six. We will learn more about what or who a Passenger is.ĭan, Yaz, and Professor Jericho have been stranded in the early 20th century for over three years. We may finally get more clarity on what Joseph Williamson is up to and the tunnels under Liverpool. Will we learn who she is? I am excited to see more of Barbara Lynn. Like previous chapters, there will be a lot to process and take in.Īwsok is back. The return of Kate-Lethbridge-Stewart and The Ood reaffirms my belief that things will indeed be epic. It was written by Chris Chibnall and Directed by Azheer Saleem. The claustrophobic atmosphere made the episode work better.Īs we leap to the finish line, I hope that the momentum achieved with this story propels things to a climactic end that doesn’t feel convoluted and messy like last season.Ĭhapter Five of Doctor Who: Flux looks like it will be very dense and filled with more exposition on the characters we have met so far. Over the last few weeks, the danger has seemed more peripheral than it was here. It was also great to have The Doctor really in peril. In a season of nonlinear events, seat of the pants adventure, and parcel out plot developments., it was good to have something that felt familiar. But, I will see how their story unfolds before passing judgment.īut most of all, I liked how this story felt like a standalone piece. I am not sure how I feel about them being agents of The Division or operating for anyone else. After being almost comical in previous stories, the Angels have some added dynamics that make them a match for the TARDIS crew. It was great to see a terrifying version of the Weeping Angels. I am hoping the payoff is as good and the buildup. I also liked the continued backstory for Bel and Vinder. His scenes with Whittaker were also outstanding. Fearless, inquisitive, loyal, and determined to protect the Doctor and Claire, his debut helped propel the drama. I am hoping we see more of her in the coming weeks. Moving forward, we will undoubtedly get more information on who she is and how she first met the Doctor. We had not seen much of her in previous chapters but, here she made an impact. The season has seen her settle into her version of the character and create a very dynamic Doctor.Īnnabel Scholey was great as Claire. It was great to see Jodie Whittaker get some good material to work with. However, I was thrilled to discover it is the best story of the current season. First, the Weeping Angels haven’t been scary for quite a while, and second, we have seen a lot of running around over the previous weeks, which led me to believe this story would be no different. With Village of the Angels, I had some concerns. Winding the bend for Season 13, expectations are getting higher and higher for stories that are entertaining, fresh, and different from things we’ve seen before.
